Deepti Sharma is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her superb all-round showing. She lauds the bowling unit for executing what was planned in the meeting. Tells that she is used to playing in such conditions where the wicket is on the slower side. Reckons that the team managed the game really well with both bat and ball. The pressure was there on London Spirit Women as well to chase it down. Meg Lanning gave them a blistering start by scoring quick fire 20 but Linsey Smith came into the attack and struck twice to get them back into the game. London Spirit Women lost three wickets inside the Powerplay but were just one partnership away to pull things back in their favour. Heather Knight and Deepti Sharma joined hands to do the job. The skipper played the smart, anchoring role while Deepti Sharma brought her experience to score off the freebies. Once they both settled in, it was all over for Northern Superchargers Women.
A lot of credit to London Spirit's bowlers who made most of the conditions. Overcast condition, the ball doing its bit and London Spirit Women pegged Northern Superchargers Women on the back foot with three wickets inside the Powerplay. Runs were hard to come by with Northern Superchargers Women losing wickets regularly, it was Alice Davidson-Richards hard made 33 which was the highest score however overall, it never looked enough and Northern Superchargers ended with a mere 99 on the board. Eva Gray ended with three wickets while Danielle Gibson and Tara Norris shared three wickets.
A comfortable win for London Spirit Women and they end the day and their league stage campaign in second position replacing their opposition, Northern Superchargers Women who are knocked out of the competition. Still not officially qualified but London Spirit Women have done the job to their best ability and now rely on other results to go their way to secure a top-three finish.
