What does that mean for the points table? The Adelaide Strikers move up to 2nd position on the points table and the Melbourne Stars drop a position down to 3rd. Big Bash League action continues on 28th December, Saturday, as the two Sydney-based sides, Sydney Sixers face off against Sydney Thunder. Do join us for that match at 1910 Local (0810 GMT). Till then, cheers and take care!
The Strikers would be happy with their bowling except for the performances of Agar and Valente who both conceded at least 40 runs in their spell of 4 overs. The star for them was Peter Siddle as he took a 3-fer as well as bowling the final over which ultimately decided the match.
The innings started positively for the Adelaide Strikers as they conceded just 39 runs in the first 6 overs and took 2 wickets as well. It was all going smooth until the halfway mark in the second innings for them. The game was turned on its head by skipper Glenn Maxwell as he came in and started hitting the bowlers all around the ground. However, he departed at a very crucial juncture, Coulter-Nile carried on from there hitting 20 runs off just 8 balls, setting up a very tense final over where they needed 12 runs. But Peter Siddle rose to the occasion and used all his experience to nail a perfect final over to help Adelaide Strikers win the match.
What a thriller this has been! The Adelaide Strikers have come out on top in the final over and the hero for them at the death has been one of their experienced campaigners, Peter Siddle, who held his nerve and bowled beautifully in the last over giving away just 6 runs.
Man of the Match, Jonathan Wells is down for an interview. He says that it was nail-biting stuff in the end and they are happy that they have got the win. Says that Peter Siddle is a team man and his execution under pressure was brilliant. Mentions how his passion is evident for everyone to see. Adds that the plan was to take the game deep and get 170 odd runs in the end. Ends by saying that it's been a superb turnaround for them in the last couple of days.

That is that! Siddle holds his nerve and delivers a wonderful last over for his side. Bowls a very full delivery on the pads, Zampa fails to get it away and it goes off his pads to short fine leg. ADELAIDE STRIKERS WIN BY 5 RUNS!

The run chase is underway! Marcus Stoinis and Nic Maddinson make their way out to the middle in pursuit of 175. Billy Stanlake will start for the Strikers.
So, 175 is the target for the Melbourne Stars to chase down. Can they do it? Skipper Glenn Maxwell will be quite confident about it given the firepower his side boasts of. Join us in a while for the run chase!
The Melbourne Stars will be happy with with their bowling even after conceding 174 runs. The main culprits for them were in the field as they dropped as many as three catches, two of which were simple ones. Both spinners, Zampa and Lamichhane did very well to restrict the run flow in the Powerplay and also picking up wickets at crucial intervals. Steyn did go for 20 runs in his first over but made a brilliant comeback in his next two, giving away just 9 runs. Daniel Worrall would be disappointed with his bowling as he was hammered all over the park, conceding 45 runs off his 4 overs.
The innings started with a bang for the Strikers as Weatherald smashed Dale Steyn for 20 runs in his first over. But he managed to get a wicket as well which halted the momentum. Adelaide managed to score 53 runs in the Powerplay and labored their way until the last 5 overs. Alex Carey played a composed innings, scoring 45 runs off 45 balls. The main man for the Strikers was Jonathan Wells who made the most of the two lives given to him as he scored an unbeaten 68 runs off 46 balls. He was the one to provide the finishing touches to the innings where the Strikers scored 58 runs in the last 5 overs.
So, 174 is what the Strikers have managed to finish on. Brilliant last couple of overs have seen them reach a competitive score and Jonathan Wells has to be given the credit for that. Overall, the Strikers will be very happy with this total on the board and will be looking forward to the second innings.
Jonathan Wells stops by for an interview on his way back to the pavilion. States that the wicket was playing a bit slow and it was not coming on well. Says that Carey is a very good leader and he is timing the ball very well at the moment, especially his innings in Adelaide the last time around.

Match no. 13 sees Adelaide Strikers facing Melbourne Stars at the Carrara Oval. The Strikers have played two games so far, both of which were truncated for different reasons. In their last match, Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey's brilliant knocks along with some poor batting from Perth helped Adelaide win by 15 runs. Melbourne Stars, on the other hand, are on a roll with 2 wins from their 2 games. Dale Steyn has returned from an injury and he will be replacing the bowler who was in top form in the previous games, Haris Rauf. Nathan Coulter-Nile is also back and that has further strengthened the bowling of the Stars. It promises to be another nail-biting encounter. Toss and team updates in a while.
