Right then, that's it from this game of The Hundred Men's game no. 5. More action continues from the Hundred Men's with the next match scheduled to be played between Welsh Fire and Oval Invincibles on 28th July at 11.05 pm IST (5.35 pm GMT). You can join us an hour early for all the build-up and updates from the game. Until next time, take care and enjoy your time.
Sean Abbott IS THE PLAYER THE MATCH. He says the feedback from the bowlers that opened the attack helped him get his line right straightaway. Adds that not leaking runs on both sides of the park is important in league games. Mentions the first couple of games favored the bowlers and they did not expect so much seam movement there was in the middle today but it feels good to have that.
Earlier in the day, The London Spirit innings never got going at the beginning and the side was struggling to see a clear sight of even a three-figure mark, being 30 for 5 after 28 deliveries. The 6th, 7th, and 8th wicket partnership added 97 together to help the side post a fighting total. Andre Russell showcased his explosiveness and scored 37 off just 20 balls. Sean Abbott for Birmingham Phoenix was unplayable and he picked up 4 wickets whereas Tim Southee took a couple. Benny Howell took one as well.
The bowlers of London Spirit were superb at the start as they broke the backbone of the Birmingham Phoenix batting unit and ripped the top order apart. The side was cruising towards defending the low total that was set by their batters, but then a partnership formed between Dan Mousley and Jacob Bethell that took the game away from London Spirit. The side did bounce back and fought till the very end with wickets and dots right at the end but eventually lost with a ball to spare. With not much to defend the London Spirit bowlers still did well to take the game that deep. Daniel Worrall, Liam Dawson and Olly Stone took a couple each.
Chasing down an in-between total the Birmingham Phoenix side were off to a poor start off their own. The side were 4 down for 20 in the blink of an eye. With all the big names back in the hut it was then for Dan Mousley and Jacob Bethell to take the game deep. Both the batters added 69 crucial runs for the 5th wicket but Dan Mousley departed at a crucial time with the game hanging in the balance. Jacob Bethell almost saw the side home but fell at the wrong time. It will be a learning fro Jacob Bethell to not give away his wicket even with the finish line in sight. Benny Howell along with Sean Abbott scored the last bit remaining and say the side home eventually.
A close contest in the Men's edition of The Hundred and it is Birmingham Phoenix who wins on the road against London Spirit by 3 wickets.

Short of a length outside off, Benny Howell looks to swing this away on leg but gets an outside edge just behind the diving point fielder for a couple. Daniel Worrall fielded this and threw with a bowling action. Had the throw been a bit better, this would have been it for Benny Howell at the striker's end.
