Right. Match number 18 is done and dusted. In case you missed, Saturday's morning game saw a Kieron Pollard special, removing the Knight Riders from the sands of defeat. And in the afternoon, the Tallawahs proved too much for the Patriots, jumping to third spot, from fifth. Sunday sees the Barbados Tridents meet the St Lucia Zouks at 10 in the morning (1400 GMT), followed by the Warriors-Patriots clash at 2.15 pm local. This will be the final day of CPL 2020 in Port Of Spain before the caravan heads back to Tarouba. You take some rest and head back here too. Victorious Jamaica Tallawahs skipper, Rovman Powell, is pleased with his team's performance but believes that there is room for improvement. Seconds Glenn Phillips' sayings of not losing too many wickets upfront and someone in the top 4 batting deep. On the batting performance in this game, Powell says that they perhaps batted a bit too slowly but the idea was not to lose more than 2 wickets in the first 10 overs and then open up in the next half. On Andre Russell's fitness, Rovman says that Dre Russ is improving and hopes to see him back in the next game.
St Kitts And Nevis Patriots captain, Rayad Emrit, looks clueless as he searches answers for his team's batting. Admits that they perhaps gave 10-15 runs extra earlier but it was chaseable and laments the poor show by his batsmen, repeating the same mistakes over and over again. On Evin Lewis' fitness, Rayad says that he is a fighter but they will assess him tonight and then take a call.
GLENN PHILLIPS HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Phillips admits that it was a tough pitch to bat upon initially. Details that it was a plan to keep wickets in the bank for the later stages. Is happy to have got his first not out in the CPL. Analyzes that in the past few games, the Tallawahs have been going a bit too hard at the top, so they wanted to bat cautiously and use their firepower at the end. On him collapsing in the middle, Phillips says that the heat got to him but he enjoyed it all the same. On the talk in the dressing room, Glenn says that it has all been how to move forward from this step and how to keep improving.

The Tallawahs bowled well on a track which was slowing down by the minute. The choke applied post Powerplay was superb, that too, without using either of Mujeeb Ur Rahman or Sandeep Lamichhane. Carlos Brathwaite, who seems to have lost confidence in batting, proved that he still has something left in him, with a 3-fer. Edwards went for a bit towards the end but the match was well in control for Jamaica.
The Patriots started well, reaching 39/1 in the Powerplay but don't know what happened later. The next 20 balls yielded just 6 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and the match got done and dusted there. Evin Lewis' absence at the top due to a groin injury hit the Patriots really hard. Lewis came in at number 7 and tried to stage a fightback with Nick Kelly but it was too much of an ask. 4th straight loss for St Kitts, which makes it 5 defeats in 6 matches. Ouch.
Comfortable win for the Tallawahs. Superbly read by Rovman Powell at the toss. He predicted the pitch to get slow and my word, it did. It was already slow in the first innings but when Jamaica were looking to get an average total, Glenn Phillips exploded and the Patriots had to run helter-skelter.

The Tallawahs will be happy with this finish. They were going nowhere till the 16th over but that assault from Phillips on Sheldon Cottrell changed the tempo. 20 runs came from the 17th over, which completely shifted the momentum. Jamaica scored 50/3 in the last 4 overs, something which could haunt the Patriots. Of those 50, Phillips scored 43!
Spare a thought for Glenn Phillips. We can't watch him struggle to get back to the dugout. Is this guy really going to keep wickets? Started slow, but then exploded. 79 unbeaten from 61 balls, after being 36 in 42 at one stage. That means 43 in the last 19 balls that he faced. Simply unbelievable.
