Right then, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have sealed a comfortable win. The action in the Caribbean Premier League continues as we have a doubleheader coming up on Thursday 15th of September. First, it will be Trinbago Knight Riders up against Guyana Amazon Warriors. That game will begin at 4.30 am IST (11.00 pm GMT, the previous day). Then we have Jamaica Tallawahs playing once again as they take on Barbados Royals. That match is set to begin at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT).  But as you all know our build-up for the games will begin in advance. Do join us then. For now, it's goodbye and cheers!
Rovman Powell the skipper of Jamaica Tallawahs says that it was a tough toss to lose and jokes by saying that he hopes the toss goes his way in the upcoming games. Adds that the pitch was tough to bat on early in the game. He offers his congratulations to Raymon Reifer for his selection in the World Cup squad. About his own selection as vice-captain, he claims that he feels he is in a good place and can continue his good form into the World Cup.
Dwayne Bravo the captain of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots says that they did not have the greatest of starts but praises his bowlers for coming back and restricting the opponents. Adds that there is no pressure on Darren Bravo as he is one of the better players in the region. He credits Rashid Khan for his incredible spell and also Akila Dananjaya. Mentions that while chasing Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis started well and then Darren Bravo took it from there nicely. Ends by saying it has been a tough start but they are catching momentum.
Rashid Khan is the Player of the Match for outstanding figures of 4-1-8-1. He says that he tries his best to keep it simple. Adds that he is still jet lagged a bit but is happy with his performance and the result. Mentions that it is important to enjoy on and off the field and says that he knew that the pitch had something to offer. Ends by saying that he will do his best to take his side to the knockout stages and ultimately become champions.
Time for the presentations...
Jamaica Tallawahs lost the game in the first inning as they collapsed early to hand the initiative to their opponents. Raymon Reifer's onslaught late on pushed them to a reasonable total but the long rain stoppage seemed to have made conditions easier. Rashid Khan continued to prove why he is one of the most dangerous T20 bowlers around and a disciplined performance set up an easy run chase.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be absolutely thrilled with this performance and it was long overdue. They came out to bat with positive intent and both the openers got the ball rolling early. Evin Lewis was dismissed right after the Powerplay but Andre Fletcher overcame his disappointment of being dismissed on duck in the previous game, to stay unbeaten on 45 and guide his team to just their second win in the tournament. Darren Bravo took time at the wicket initially but as soon as he was gifted a lifeline by the opponents, he went on an onslaught and added a 55-run partnership with Andre Fletcher. They will want to continue this winning momentum as they reach the crucial part of the tournament.
Jamaica Tallawahs did not get off to a good start as they leaked 49 runs in the first five overs despite Mohammad Amir being quite economical in his two overs. Imad Wasim struck on his first ball right after the Powerplay but post that they lacked penetration. They did get Darren Bravo run out but withdrew the appeal since the bowler had brought the batter down going for the ball. They were behind in the game and they could have easily claimed the wicket but chose to do the right thing. They still have loads of work to do if they are to make it to the playoffs after a disappointing defeat.
This performance is more like what we have witnessed in the past from a champion team! St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have cruised to victory as they complete an 8-wicket win with 14 balls to spare (D/L method). Jamaica Tallawahs had the momentum going into the break but the rain interval may have killed some of the enthusiasm. They have conceded this game without much fight but have scored maximum points for sportsmanship.
