Right. That ends another thrilling game. India earn their third win and romp into the semis. Who will be the next team? New Zealand? Australia? Or someone else? It is a tough passage. The second game of the day is between Australia and Bangladesh which will begin at 7 pm local (0800 GMT). Do join us for that game.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian skipper, says that it is a great feeling and they have learnt a lot from the last three games. On batting better in overs 7 to 15, Kaur says that they got a good start but they could not carry the momentum forward. Stresses that they kept on repeating the mistakes in all the games. On the bowling, the Indian skipper says that they bowled well but sometimes they struggled to hit the right lines and lengths. On Shafali Varma, Kaur hopes that she continues performing well as her runs at the start is really important for them.
Sophie Devine, the New Zealand skipper, says that she thought that the bowlers did a terrific job and to restrict India to 133 was an amazing effort. Adds that the pitch looked a bit pacy but they failed to adapt. Praises Hayley Jensen for her performance. States that they got pretty close today but failed at the last moment. Goes onto say that they would take the positives from this game.
Shafali Verma, the Player of the Match, says that she is very happy with her performance and she wants to keep doing that for the team. Adds that they were not giving any loose balls and she was just looking to take singles and doubles. Credits her father and the boys in her academy where she trained for her good performances.
The White Ferns would be disappointed, not because of the loss but the mannerism of the defeat. They bounced back superbly after a strong second-wicket stand by India but then, kept dropping catches. Adapting to slow, turning pitches has been a challenge for many teams and the opponents are increasingly finding it difficult to play the Indian spinners. Four spinners played in this game and their combined figures were 16-0-106-4. Shikha Pandey, the lone seamer, did well with figures of 4-0-21-1. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Kudos to New Zealand for fighting hard and taking this close but they could have won if, had the fielding been better or had the batting against spinners got going. As has been the case throughout the tournament, India crossed 130 and then defended it. They bowled better and fielded exceedingly well.

OUT! Confusion in the end but INDIA WIN AND ARE THROUGH TO THE SEMIS! Pandey bowls this full and outside off, Amelia gets across, looks to swing but misses and is hit on the pads. The ball deflects to the off side and all they can manage is just a leg bye. Shikha quickly gets to the ball and fires a throw at the keeper's end. Hits and it is referred upstairs. Replays show that Jensen was looking for the second while Kerr was not interested at all. VICTORY BY 3 RUNS!

TWO RUN OUTS MISSED ON THE SAME BALL! Full and outside off, Kerr drives this straight back to the bowler. Jensen is backing up too far and is gone for all money. But Deepti, for all her time-taking and under-arming, misses the stumps at the bowler's end. They go for the single now and mid on quickly gets to the ball. Because Jensen tried to get back, she is a bit late in taking off. The throw comes in to the keeper's end but it hits Jensen who comes in the way.

OUT! CAUGHT IN THE DEEP! The last recognized batter departs as well and India have one-and-a-half feet into the semi-finals. Short and outside off, Martin comes down the track and swings it powerfully over mid-wicket. The connection sounds good but when the ball completes the trajectory, Jemimah Rodrigues is there to take the sitter! Martin goes for a fighting 25 from 28 balls. New Zealand fighting a losing cause - 44 more needed from 21 balls.

INSIDE EDGE, MISSES THE STUMPS! And an overthrow is conceded as well. Poor backup by Deepti Sharma. Full and outside off, Martin gets across, initially looking to paddle but then, seeing the line wide outside off, she looks to run it down to third man. All she manages is a thick inside edge which misses the stumps and goes to short fine leg. The fielder comes running in, has a shy at the striker's end but misses. Deepti Sharma lazily jogs to her right from short extra cover and makes no attempt to stop the ball. Allows it to go through to long off and the batters return for the second.

TOP EDGE, SAFE! Shikha Pandey loses it in the sun. Full and outside off, Green looks to play the slog sweep but gets a top edge. The ball lobs in the air towards square leg but Pandey running across from short mid-wicket loses it in the sun and backs off. Strange. She has the glasses on, but on the cap. Why not wear them over the eyes? A single taken.
Bob Carter, the New Zealand batting coach, is down for an interview with Nasser Hussain. Carter says that they will take it ball by ball and keep the scorecard ticking over. Says that they made a couple of great stops in the field but also dropped some catches which should have been taken, otherwise the ground fielding was excellent. On being asked whether it would be nice if they win without Devine contributing, the coach chuckles and then agrees.

The players are back out in the middle. The Indians walk out in a good mood, so that shows that they are not too disappointed with the opportunity of not getting to 150. Sophie Devine and Rachel Priest will open the batting for New Zealand. Interesting choice from the Indians. Deepti Sharma has been given the ball.
134 to win for New Zealand. This pitch looks to be on the slower side and it is not going to be easy for any new batter to score runs. India have shown that they can defend totals over 130 in this tournament and will rely on their spinners again to go through to the semis today itself. New Zealand, on the other hand, will aim to bat sensibly and target the bowlers who are loose. Stay tuned for the run chase.
Good comeback by New Zealand. In fact, take aside Shafali Verma's knock and it will show that they have really bowled well. Amelia Kerr was the one who put the brakes and she, along with Leigh Kasperek, stifled the Indians. Their combined figures were 8-0-40-3.
Well, another score in the range of 130-150 for India. The fact that they collapsed again, after a good start, shows how heavily they rely on the top order. It was a Shafali Verma show today, tonking the bowlers to all parts in the Powerplay. During her 51-run stand for the second wicket with Taniya Bhatia, it did seem like 150 was on. But Bhatia's wicket triggered a collapse and India lost their way.
Leigh Kasperek is down for a chat with Anjum Chopra. She is happy with the way New Zealand pulled things back. Is happy with the target to chase. On being asked about any specific restrictions against India, Kasperek says that there was no such plan and they just tried to play as the game progressed. On the plan to bowl short to Shafali and full to Taniya, Kasperek says that Verma is more of a front foot player and the latter a back foot one, hence the bowling lengths. On her personally looking to open the batting, Leigh smiles and says that she just looks to contribute with the bat whenever an opportunity arises.

OUT! LBW! Decision reversed! Perhaps the umpire thought there was glove involved, because it seemed there was a deflection. Full and straight, Krishnamurthy looked to sweep but missed and was hit on the pads. Kerr appealed but the umpire was firm in shaking his head. The keeper, bowler and another fielder had a conversation and eventually took the review. Ultra Edge confirmed there was no bat or glove while the Ball Tracker returned three reds. Hitting the middle stump.
Review for LBW! New Zealand reckon that Krishnamurthy is caught plumb in front. There is a three-way discussion and eventually, the review is taken. Good decision. To take the review. Because Ball Tracker shows this to be plumb!

Pitch report - Ian Bishop says that the bowlers have to bowl slightly back of a length on this pitch. Adds that there is a bit of grass on this wicket. States that there are some cracks on it as well but the pitch is a good one for batting.
New Zealand (Playing XI)- Sophie Devine (C), Rachel Priest (WK), Suzie Bates, Maddy Green, Katey Martin, Amelia Kerr, Hayley Jensen, Anna Peterson (In place of Katie Perkins), Leigh Kasperek, Lea Tahuhu, Rosemary Mair (In place of Jess Kerr).

Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian skipper, says that they would have batted first. Adds that they have made two changes. Smriti Mandhana and Radha Yadav come in for Richa Ghosh and Arundhati Reddy. States that they need to improve batting in the overs between 7 to 14.
Sophie Devine, the New Zealand skipper, says they are bowling first as there is a bit of rain around and they would look to make use of the conditions. Goes onto say that they have made two changes to their side. Adds that India is a dangerous side and they would have to be on their toes.
Toss - New Zealand have won the toss and they elect to field first.
Match no.9 sees two in-form teams facing each other, India and New Zealand. India, on the back of two consecutive wins are just one win away from securing a place in the semi-finals. Smriti Mandhana is likely to return for this crucial fixture and that is a big boost for the batting line-up of the Indians. Their bowlers have done a wonderful job and would hope to continue doing the same. The White Ferns, on the other hand, started the tournament well against Sri Lanka but now are facing a tough opponent in India. They have a strong side at their disposal and would want them to come good and move one step closer to the semi-final stage. Will India enter the semi-finals with one game to spare or will New Zealand manage back-to-back wins? Toss and team updates in a while.
