UPDATE - 8.09 pm IST (2.39 pm GMT) - The umpires were out in the middle but looking at the visuals, it looked like they are still not convinced by the conditions of the outfield. There will be another inspection at 9 pm IST (3.30 pm GMT). So, the waiting game continues.
UPDATE - The sky is gloomy once again in Florida and there was a bit of drizzle earlier as well. We can see the covers are on and there are a few damp areas in the outfield as well. As a result, the toss has been delayed and the umpires will have an inspection at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Stay tuned for more updates.
Canada, meanwhile, is officially knocked out of the tournament, but they did shine brightly against Ireland. With two losses on their record, there's certainly a need for improvement. Opener Aaron Johnson has been impressive, but Navneet Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton need to be more consistent to bolster the top order. All-rounder and skipper Saad Bin Zafar has been effective with the ball and has contributed some key hits with the bat. Their pace attack, led by Dilon Heyliger and Jeremy Gordon, has been consistently taking wickets and has been particularly impressive. The forecast however hasn't been very favorable due to heavy rains around and we are hopeful to get a complete uninterrupted game. With India holding a tremendous winning record at Lauderhill, will the Men in Blue continue on the merry way? Or will Canada shock the world? Stay tuned for the toss and team updates.
India has been crushing it in the tournament, kicking things off by taking down Ireland, then scoring a big win against Pakistan, and defeating the USA. With three straight wins and a track record of making it to the tough stages in major tournaments, India might try out and test its bench strength and also does have a few wrinkles to iron out as well. Virat Kohli’s form has been a bit of a worry lately, but everyone knows he’s a beast when it comes to making epic comebacks. Rishabh Pant has been carrying the team with his batting, and with Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube finding their groove again, India's batting lineup looks rock solid. Surprisingly, Ravindra Jadeja has not been utilized yet in the tournament so far, and would be interesting to see if he gets to roll his arm with the ball. Jasprit Bumrah has lived up to the expectations and led the bowling attack showing remarkable consistency along with Arshdeep Singh. Axar Patel has responded brilliantly to his role as a floater with the bat and has also excelled with the ball. While Hardik Pandya didn’t do much with the bat, but he’s a huge asset for the team as the fourth seamer.

... MATCH DAY ...
India have been one of the most consistent sides in the group stages of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. They've already secured their spot in the Super-8 and now face Canada in their final group match, aiming to build momentum and keep their unbeaten streak alive. Despite tricky pitches in New York, the Men in Blue have shown their mettle, rising to the occasion when it mattered most. Their bowlers have been the standout performers, with Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh delivering phenomenal spells. Mohammed Siraj has perfectly played his supporting role, while Hardik Pandya has secured crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs. Ravindra Jadeja hasn't been utilized much, with Axar Patel stepping up and making the most of his opportunities. However, Virat Kohli's form has been a concern, but he’s known for shining in big games when his country needs him the most. Rishabh Pant has been the most consistent batter so far, with Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav also notching fifties. Shivam Dube struggled initially but gained confidence with a solid performance in the last match. Overall, India looks like a formidable side, poised to make it four wins on the trot. On the other hand, Canada has also shown their capabilities. Despite a demoralizing loss to the USA in their first game, where they scored over 190 runs, they bounced back by defeating Ireland, marking a significant achievement. Aaron Johnson is key to their batting lineup as he also scored a gritty half-century against a strong Pakistan attack. He is supported by Navneet Dhaliwal, Pargat Singh, Nicholas Kirton, and Shreyas Movva, who have the potential for big knocks. The skipper, Saad Bin Zafar's all-round abilities will be crucial for their performance. Jeremy Gordon and Kaleem Sana will lead the bowling attack, needing to make early inroads to put pressure on the Indians. Dilon Heyliger and Junaid Siddiqui’s roles in the middle overs will be vital to containing India’s powerful batting lineup. The weather in Florida poses a challenge, with continuous rain threatening the match. However, there’s hope it will clear up before game time. Even though the result might not significantly impact India, this is a massive game for Canada. They’re eager to challenge one of the top contenders and pull off a huge upset. Will Canada defy the odds and stun India, or will the Men in Blue continue their unbeaten streak? We will find out soon.
