Man of the Match
Matthew Wade
Commentry
That is it from this game. The next match is between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder. It will be played on Monday January 25, 2021. Do join us for that at 1845 local (0815 GMT). Till then, take care and cheers!
Matthew Wade is named the Man of the Match for his brilliant 86 with the bat.
Earlier in the day, Hobart batted well to post a good score of 188. They got a solid opening stand of 145 runs between Matthew Wade and D'Arcy Short. Matthew Wade was looking in dangerous form today but he missed out on a 100. When both the openers were dismissed, the collapse started for Hobart Hurricanes and they could not manage to cross 200. The Sixers bowlers were not upto the mark but made a comeback in the last 6 overs of the innings where they took 8 wickets to restrict Hobart under 200.
Coming to Sixers batting, they did not get off to a great start as they lost their openers early. They lost three wickets under 50. The partnership between Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk was crucial for them. That brought them back into the game. Henriques was dismissed by Lamichhane and that was the turning point in the chase for the Sixers. Jordan Silk was going bonkers but lost partners at the other end. It was too much for him in the end to seal this chase.
It has been a thrilling victory for the Hobart Hurricanes. They bowled well and kept it tight to win this match. Ellis was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3 wickets. Boland and Lamichhane supported him well and took 2 wickets each. They did drop some catches but held their nerve to win this match.
