So that is it from this game. Brisbane Heat move to 3rd in the points table with this win. The misery piles on the Hobart Hurricanes as they find themselves second from the bottom. BBL action continues on Friday, 10th January as we have a Melbourne derby. Bottom dwellers Melbourne Renegades take on table-toppers Melbourne Stars. That match begins at 1910 local (0810 GMT). Join us for that one. Till then, cheers!
BEN CUTTING IS MAN OF THE MATCH. He starts by saying that the wicket was a bit tricky and they lost wickets in heaps to make the run chase difficult. Praises Peirson for staying out in the middle and playing a very good innings.
Earlier in the evening after opting to bat, Hurricanes struggled to get going. They lost wickets at regular intervals but a 61 from the returning skipper, Matthew Wade ensured that the tourists reached a respectable total of 126. Josh Lalor and Ben Laughlin were the tormentor-in-chief as the pair picked up 5 wickets amongst themselves.
Kudos to the Hobart Hurricanes bowler, defending a small total of 126, they tried their best. Scott Boland single-handedly pulled his side back in the game. He was superb with the ball and ended up with the figures of 3/16 from his 4. Nathan Ellis supported him well but the rest started leaking runs towards the end and in the end the Hurricanes just could not pull it off.
Finally Brisbane Heat chase down a target. Chasing a small target of 127, the Brisbane Heat got off to a good start with Max Bryant taking the charge and Banton taking his time to settle. Banton could not get his timing sorted and departed. But once Bryant departed, wickets started to go down in clusters. The hosts shot themselves on the foot and from 52/1 they found themselves reeling at 71/5. It looked like a collapse was on the card once again but Ben Cutting and Jimmy Pierson held their nerves and the pair added unbeaten 60 to take the side home.

OUT! LYNN IS SHORT! Big, big moment in the game! Hobart are right back in this. They would now feel they have a real, real chance in the game. Huge mix-up this and this is probably the last thing the hosts would have wanted. Also, excellent work from Bailey and Wade. Peirson taps it towards point. Lynn wants a run and sets off, Peirson is not sure. He takes a start but then stops. Seeing that Lynn stops too. In the end he decides to turn and go back. Till that time though Bailey picks the ball up and sees Wade coming to the stumps at the bowler's end. He throws it gently to him and Wade whips the bails off. The Hobart players start celebrating. The umpire takes it upstairs and replays show that Lynn is short. Brilliant work from the two experienced players, had it been a young bloke, he could have easily got carried away and fired it at the non-striker's end but Bailey does really well, keeps calm, sees all the opportunities possible and picks the right one.
Is that another wicket? If it is, it will be biggest of them all. Big moment in the game. Lynn is the man in question. Hobart are celebrating.

Strategic time-out. Just 75 needed in 78 balls, Brisbane Heat are clearly in a comfortable position. Hurricanes have managed to get two new batsman in and if they can sneak in a couple more quickly then they might just pull off a rabbit out of the hat.

OUT! In the air... taken! Bryant is out of here and that is a very, very good catch from Rose. Boland strikes in his first over itself! It is a short one, he bends his back on this one and hence there is extra bounce. Bryant looks to pull but gets a top edge straight down the ground. Both long on and Rose from mid off go for it. In the end, it is the latter who calls for it and takes a sliding catch. He almost collides with that fielder as the call seemed pretty late. Good work in the end by the two. Hobart need to keep taking wickets, 75 needed in 79.

NOT OUT! It is a bump ball! Banton looks to play the reverse sweep but Rose fires it on the leg stump. He hits it towards point where the fielder dives to his right and takes. It the fielder from covers starts celebrating but he is the only one doing so. There is an appeal then from the Hobart players and the umpire takes it upstairs. The initial replays are quite confusing but in the end, the umpire decides that it has bounced and rules it in the favor of the batter.
Is that a catch? Well, the Hobart players do not seem excited but the umpires have gone upstairs to check if it is a bump ball.

We are set for the chase! Out come the Hobart players and they are followed by the Heat openers, Tom Banton and Max Bryant. Thomas Rogers to start the proceedings for the visitors. Here we go...
Thomas Rogers is back on. Bowled an excellent first over.
With the ball, Heat started brilliantly as Renshaw struck in the second over itself. Josh Lalor and Ben Laughlin too did not give freebies and picked 5 wickets between them. Both of them used the slower ones. Zahir Khan too was excellent in his spell. The total is not a big one at all and the kind of firepower the Heat have in their batting, Heat should not have any problems in chasing this total. Let's see if the Hurricanes weave some magic with the ball to take this game deep. Join us in a while for the run chase.
End of a very poor batting performance from the Hurricanes. Their innings could never get going and they end on a very small total. Wade marked his return with a brilliant half ton but he did not get support from anyone around him.Apart from him, only Rogers and Nathan Ellis could get into double digits and that should sum up their batting display. Wade's wicket will be topic of discussion during this break though.

OUT! Caught! What a blinder this one. Some confusion there but the third umpire reckons it is a fair catch. That is going to spark some discussion but for the moment, Wade has to go. A short of a length ball around off, Wade slogs it towards wide long on. Renshaw there gets to the ball, catches it but he realizes that the momentum will take him to the rope. He then loops it up but the ball will land over the rope only so he only again leaps off the turf and then relays the ball towards Banton. Now, Renshaw says that he is not sure. The third umpire has been called for. The replays roll in and it shows that Matt has done well there to keep the ball in play. Wade has already walked towards the ropes. He has been probably asked to wait at near the ropes. Now, what does the rules say? The commentators on air feel this cannot be given out as he pushed the ball back in while being behind the ropes. But to everyone's surprise, the third umpire signals it out and Wade departs.
Has Rrenshaw taken a blinder here or has his feet touched the ground as he tries to pull it back in? A big hit from Wade, Renshaw takes it but goes over the ropes with the momentum. Renshaw looks to pull it back inside but lobs it over. Matt then jumps and taps it back in to Banton who comes to cover for him. The replay rolls in and it shows his feet has not touched the ground as he tapped it back in. Wade has started to walk back and after a big wait the giant screen shows OUT!

Tactical Time-Out. The home side is on top right now with 4 scalps inside first 10 overs. The Heats need a partnership here to consolidate things. Skipper wade and McDermott, who captained the side in the absence of Wade are out in the middle and they will have to take their side towards a respectable total. Interesting to see how things pan out post this mini-break. Meanwhile. Mitchell Swepson is into the attack.
