Hobart Hurricanes Women beat Sydney Sixers Women by 9 wickets

So, that's that from Match 35 then. But, hang on, Match 36 gets underway shortly. That is between Sydney Thunder Women and Melbourne Stars Women. Switch tabs to catch all the action from that game.
Rachel Priest is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says that it was a little bit of a shaky start but is happy to contribute with runs for her side. States that it was important to take some time, assess the wicket and then go for it. Adds that Sydney Sixers are one of the most competitive sides in the tournament. Tells that it is great to beat them.
Earlier, in the day, the Hurricanes bowled well to restrict a strong batting line-up of Sixers to just 139. They used the slower balls to perfection and that worked for them. Only Ellyse Perry shone with the bat for her side while the others failed to make a mark. They needed to bowl well to defend this but Rachel Priest had other plans as her 92 helped the Hurricanes win the game by 9 wickets.
Sydney Sixers were not good at all with the ball. They struggled with their line and lengths especially when Priest was going all out. They started well but then needed to keep the pressure up but they failed to do so. None of the bowlers picked up a wicket and one which fell was courtesy of a run out. That says the story of the bowling performance. Yes, the target was a little low but one would have expected a better performance from the bowlers.
The Hurricanes' batting was top notch. They were brilliant, especially Rachel Priest. 140 was not an easy score on this wicket to chase but Priest made it look very easy and found the boundaries at will. They lost an early wicket and that slowed down the run rate a bit but Hayley Matthews played a perfect supporting role to Priest and they got over the line comfortably in the end. The Hurricanes could not have asked for a more dominant performance from their players.
Rachel Priest! Take a bow! What an innings from the New Zealander. She was absolutely brilliant and she has handed a drubbing to Sydney Sixers. She was well supported by Hayley Matthews. Hurricanes needed this win as they have had a tough tournament so far.
