That wraps the group stage then! We have our four teams who will proceed further. It is now time for Qualifier 1. Guyana Amazon Warriors will face Barbados Royals again on 27th September. The match will start at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). But as always do join us early for the build up. Till then, cheers!
Shimron Hetmyer, the skipper of Guyana Amazon Warriors says they are finally finding a way to play and he is very happy with the team. On Romario Shepherd, he asked for a chance and it went well for him as he ended with three wickets. Tells anything is possible in cricket and he thanks the crowd for the support.
Shakib Al Hasan is yet again the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He says it was a combination of everything, they have been playing well in the last three games. Adds they had the momentum as they won four out of four. Shares that the spinners were doing the job but this time it was the pacers and that shows that the players are standing up everytime. Reckons they weren't sure of the score to expect but they were ready for any score. On Romario Shepherd, he bowled brilliantly and did the job for the team and credits the other bowlers as well. Admits they will rest well and try to win the next game.
...Time for Presentation...
Barbados Royals had very limited runs to bowl at and against a team high in confidence, it was always going to be hard. They did well to take a couple of wickets in the start but after that Shakib Al Hasan took the game away from them quickly and the hopes were all but shattered. A rare defeat for Barbados Royals but they will still end as the table toppers in the group stage.
That is 4 out of 4 for Guyana Amazon Warriors in their home leg at Guyana! The home venue did turn out to be a massive change in their momentum as it has helped them to finish second on the table and they are all set to play Qualifier 1 against this same opposition, Barbados Royals. It was a pretty straight forward chase for them. Just one stand was enough to chase the low score. The bowlers of Guyana Amazon Warriors did most of the job. They kept a lid on the run flow throughout the innings and took wickets at regular intervals. Romario Shepherd was the star as he picked three wickets. In reply, the stand between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shakib Al Hasan help to reach the victory line. Shakib Al Hasan was at his best as he scored a fifty. He seems to be the missing puzzle for Guyana Amazon Warriors as his all-round performance yet again proves to be vital in a crunch game.
