Right then, that is it from this nail-biting game of cricket. The excitement of the International League T20, 2024 continues with the upcoming match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, where the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders face off against the Sharjah Warriors in match number 25 on the 7th of February at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Join us earlier for all the pre-match build-up. Until then, cheers!
James Vince is the player of the match for his 32 runs and 2 crucial run-outs. He says it was not the ideal start but at the halfway they belived they can defend it and such games are crucial in tournaments like this. He adds that the wicket was two-paced and it put doubts in the minds of batters. He further says that they knew they had to take wickets early and had to get everything right to win this match from where they were at half mark. He concludes that it was a big game and it was a great win considering how crunch the points table is.
The skipper of Dubai Capitals, David Warner says they wanted to work on the powerplay but yet again they lost 3 in the powerplay and lost the plot early on. Adds that he can not discredit his bowlers and this loss is totally on the batters and this hampers the NRR as well.
It's time for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, the Dubai Capitals showcased their prowess by dismantling the top order with blistering pace bowling. Despite the resilient partnership between Shimron Hetmyer and James Vince, which provided some stability, the spotlight remained on the bowlers' dominance. Towards the end, Dominic chipped in with a quickfire knock, but the Gulf Giants could only muster a total of 126 runs. Olly Stone emerged as the standout performer with four wickets.
The Dubai Capitals began their innings promisingly, with David Warner and Rahmanullah Gurbaz laying a solid foundation. However, their partnership was short-lived as both openers fell within the first four overs. Despite a spirited effort from Sam Billings, who aggressively took on the bowlers, his innings was cut short by Chris Jordan's precision bowling. By the end of the powerplay, Dubai Capitals found themselves at 48 for 3, facing mounting pressure. The dismissal of Max Holden further compounded their troubles. The innings unraveled further with Ben Dunk and Scott Kuggeleijn falling victim to mix-ups between the wickets, adding to the chaos. Sikandar Raza showed promise but couldn't capitalize on his start. Dasun Shanaka emerged as the lone fighter, attempting to hold the batting innings together amidst the consistent fall of wickets. However, the lack of support from the other end proved too much to overcome. Ultimately, Dubai Capitals succumbed to a defeat throwing away their last wicket too, in what should have been a straightforward run chase, adding a twist to the tournament's narrative at a crucial juncture.
Jamie Overton set the tone impeccably from the outset, striking early with the crucial dismissal of David Warner. Following suit, Blessing Muzarabani, despite conceding a couple of boundaries, swiftly responded by removing Rahmanullah Gurbaz. As the powerplay reached its climax, Chris Jordan showcased his prowess by delivering a top-quality ball that sent Sam Billings back to the pavilion. Gerhard Erasmus, seizing the momentum post-powerplay, swiftly claimed the wicket of Max Holden. A couple of wickets gifted by Dubai Capitals along with the spin duo of Zohaib Zubair and Aayan Khan proceeded to dismantle the lower middle order with precision and finesse, solidifying their team's dominance on the field. A run out at the end ensured Gulf Giants victory of 19 runs in this low-scoring thriller that takes them up to the third position on the points table.
What an exhilarating game of cricket it was, going right down to the wire! However, Dubai Capitals have thrown away the last wicket too allowing the Gulf Giants a victory of 19 runs.

OUT! OH DEAR ME! This was the last thing that could go wrong for Dubai Capitals today. A run out ends the Dubai Capitals inning and they have lost it by 19 runs. Back of a length on pads, Dasun Shanaka tickles it to the leg side but a brilliant fielding effort from Blessing Muzarabani and a goo bit of throw to Jamie Overton on the non-striking end sees Haider Ali out of his crease when the bails are removed.

FOUR! See the ball hit the ball approach seems to be working for Dasun Shanaka. On a length around off, Dasun Shanaka lofts this inside out up and over extra-cover for four.
Dasun Shanaka gets a nasty blow on the grill of his helmet and the physio is out for a concussion test. He looks okay and is ready to resume the chase.

OUCH! Bumper on leg, Dasun Shanaka looks to take it on and hook to towards the leg side. Misses it completely as the ball has jammed into the helmet grill. The physio rushes in as the umpires have asked for a mandatory concussion check.
