First, Salem take on Trichy for match number 7 and it will start at 3.15 pm IST (9.45 am GMT). Next up, it will be Dindigul against Madurai for match number 8 which will start at 7.15 pm IST (1.45 pm GMT) but do join us early for the build-up. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Ajitesh G is the Player of the Match for his remarkable century as he scored 112 runs in 60 deliveries to lead his side to a narrow win.
Kovai did not get off to a good start with the bat as they lost Sachin B on a duck but Suresh Kumar and Sai Sudharsan steadies the ship as they put on 66 runs for the second wicket. Suresh departed after scoring 33 in 24 deliveries and Ram Arvindh R seemed to struggle at the wicket. Sai Sudharsan played yet another remarkable knock scoring 90 runs in 52 balls and looked well on course to reach his century but was run out just like he was in the previous game. Shahrukh Khan and U Mukilesh provided the much-needed impetus towards the end of the innings to get them to a competitive total. Sonu Yadav got the early breakthrough in his first over but proved to be expensive in his next two overs. M Poiyamozhi continued his wicket-taking form with 3 wickets for 29 overs in his four overs but the other bowlers failed to make an impact leaving the batters with an uphill task to climb which they did manage to achieve.
What an absolute thriller we have witnessed here and there is one man who will take all the honors! Ajitesh G has played a remarkable inning here and his outstanding century has set up the framework for his team's win. 15 runs were required in the last over and Nellai have managed to get over the line of the very last delivery to register a 4-wicket win. They now have two wins in two games as they condemn Kovai to their first loss of the season. Nellai’s response with the bat got off to an inauspicious start as they lost their skipper Arun Karthik on a golden duck. Ajitesh came out to the middle at number 3 and began to counterattack with Sri Neranjan R playing the anchor role. The latter was dismissed after scoring 25 runs in 29 balls but Ajitesh went on to score his half-century in quick time. It seemed like he would run out of partners though as the rest could not get going. He did lose his wicket in the last over as he was run out looking to keep strike but M Poiyamozhi finished the game scoring 7 runs in two deliveries as he hit the penultimate ball for a maximum.
