After an extended absence due to injuries, star Indian batsman KL Rahul has now rejoined the Indian team. It’s important to note that the 31-year-old suffered a thigh injury while competing for the Lucknow Super Giants in the 16th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season.
But on Sunday, September 10, as he made his comeback against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023’s Super Four stage, KL Rahul stepped up to talk openly about his injuries and how his recovery went in the months prior to the tournament.
My tendon snapped as I was attempting to chase a ball. My tendon separated from my quadricep as a result of a complete tear. As a result, everyone crossed their fingers that it wasn’t a major rip, a minor strain, or that I could recover in a few weeks when it happened, including me, my family, the franchise, and the squad, KL Rahul stated in a video released by the BCCI.
However, after a few days of scanning, we discovered that the lesion was a full tear, and it became evident that surgery would be necessary for me to recover from the injury.

The top Indian batsman also discussed joining the Indian squad again. Notably, Rahul took Shreyas Iyer’s position in the Indian lineup for the match against Pakistan because the latter had to withdraw due to a back spasm at the last minute. Rahul said that everything went according to plan upon his return and that he feels healthy and fit.
“I’m doing fine, and it’s great to be back with the group. I’ve taken a significant amount of time away from the game, but I’m glad to be back and everything went according to plan. Therefore, I’m glad that I was able to mark off every box’, Rahul stated.
