KL Rahul, India’s Test vice-captain, recently paid a visit to the renowned Sai Baba Mandir in Nagpur in preparation for the Border-Gavakar Test series against Australia. The first episode of the series is set to air on February 9.
When it comes to his most recent performances, Rahul has not run for the National team. Only 22, 23, 10, and 2 points, respectively, were all he could muster in the two Test matches he played against Bangladesh. The right-handed opener only has one half century to his name in the three Test matches, despite having scored a brilliant century (123) against the Proteas back in December 2021.
The Karnataka batter’s average has noticeably fallen below 35, which illustrates his poor performance. Therefore, the upcoming series is crucial for his professional development because, should he not rediscover his mojo, many others may be given the opportunity in his stead. The 30-year-old will attempt to secure his spot in the team by letting his bat speak for him, despite Shubman Gill being in a strong competition.
Interestingly, there has also been discussion about Pant’s injury and absence, which suggests that Rahul’s position as wicketkeeper may be in question. However, a BCCI representative issued a statement in this respect.
“In the past year or two, KL Rahul has suffered from a lot of injuries. He shouldn’t keep wickets in Test matches.
Specialist keepers are needed for the test. Bharat and Ishan are the only two on the team. The choice of players will be made by the team management, according to a senior BCCI official quoted by InsideSport.
The spiritual development of Virat Kohli before a series
Virat Kohli, the team India’s best batter, had some time off after the ICC T20 world cup in Australia came to an end. He chose to pursue his spiritual side in November 2022 by travelling to the renowned Kainchidham in Nainital to ask Neem Karoli baba’s blessing. Additionally, as part of his meditation journey, Kohli travelled to Rishikesh last week with his wife, Anushka, to host a “bhandara” for the seers’ lunch and ask for their blessings.
