MS Dhoni and all the talk about his leaving the IPL just won’t go away. There have been a lot of rumors about him leaving the lucrative IPL in 2023, but the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hasn’t said anything about it yet. The CSK captain and his team were ready to play the reigning champions in the IPL 2023 championship game on Sunday, May 28.
However, rainy weather forced the game to be moved to Monday, May 29. India legend and 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev talked about Dhoni’s possible IPL exit during a rain delay on Sunday.
During a rain break, Kapil Dev talked to ABP News and praised Dhoni for getting his team to the finals of the 16th IPL. He also said that the four-time IPL winner is not going to play for the rest of his life.
“He has played in the IPL for 15 years. Why is Dhoni the only thing we talk about? He’s finished his job. What else could we ask of him? Should he play for the rest of his life? We’re not going to do that. Instead, we should be glad that he played for 15 years. Whether he plays next year or not, he played well before leaving. Kapil said, “He may not have scored many runs, but he led the team to the final, which shows how important a captain is in cricket.”
Constant rain moves the IPL 2023 final match to a backup day.
The whole world was waiting with bated breath for the action to start on Sunday, May 28. Unfortunately, it rained all day at the venue, which kept the play from starting.
The game has been moved to the reserve day, and if it rains again, it won’t happen again. If that happens, the Gujarat Titans will win the 2023 version of the IPL because they will have the most points at the end of the league stage.
