Ishant Sharma had not played in an Indian Premier League (IPL) game since 2021 prior to his recent inclusion in the Delhi Capitals playing XI. Nevertheless, he has made an immediate impact for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the current IPL season. After suffering five straight defeats, the David Warner-led team has now won two straight games, with Ishant Sharma taking three wickets in two appearances.
In the ongoing IPL, the 34-year-old pacer suffered another setback on his path to a comeback. After reaching in Bangalore for DC’s fifth match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he was ill for nearly three days. Recently, he disclosed his health conditions at the time.
In a recent video shared by the Delhi Capitals, Ishant Sharma spoke with teammate Axar Patel about the story behind the same.
“When I regained enough strength to stand, I grabbed the food tray and went to your room, where I informed you, ‘Your food is not ready, and your phone has not been charged. Mai jee raha hu, marr raha hu, tune mujhe ek baar poocha bhi nahi,” Ishant said.

The 34-year-old pacer stated that he focused on tasks for which he did not have sufficient time and improved throughout his career. He continued by stating that he utilized the time to improve his bowling and get back into bowling condition.
“I worked diligently behind the scenes. All these years of cricket prevented me from focusing on and improving certain areas. As a result of technical flaws, my wrist would collapse to one side.
