The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians have continued to struggle in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). In their most recent meeting, the five-time champions faced the Rajasthan Royals. On Monday, April 22, both teams faced off at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The Mumbai Indians scored 179 runs in the first inning, and the hosts’ excellent performance with the bat, including a century by Yashasvi Jaiswal, helped the Rajasthan Royals win their seventh game of the season.
Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians’ captain, had another forgettable day in the IPL. The 30-year-old hit 10 runs in precisely as many deliveries and bowled two overs in the game, conceding 21 runs and failing to grab a wicket. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan took to X to ponder Pandya’s recent performances. Pathan believes Pandya’s batting skills are decreasing.
“Hardik Pandya’s hitting prowess is declining. In the grand scheme of things, this is a major concern. At the wankhede, he is different, but on fields with limited aid, he is concerned,” Irfan Pathan tweeted.
Hardik Pandya’s hitting ability is going down. That’s a big worry on a larger picture. At the wankhede he is different but on pitches where there is little help is what is worrisome for him.

The Mumbai Indians’ chances of making the playoffs appear poor.
After losing by nine wickets against the Rajasthan Royals, the Mumbai Indians are presently sixth in the IPL 2024 standings, with three victories in eight games. With five losses, MI trails the Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, and a few others.

With six points from eight games, the Hardik Pandya-led team will need to win every game from here on if they hope to advance to the tournament’s knockout rounds. However, the Rajasthan Royals continued their supremacy in the competition. The Royals lead the points table with 14 points after winning seven of their eight games.
