Jofra Archer, an English bowler, had to undergo yet another procedure, keeping him out of the Mumbai Indians’ game against the Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, April 25 in the ongoing IPL 2023. According to rumors, the renowned pacer recently traveled to Belgium and had a small treatment done on his right elbow.
Notably, this is Jofra Archer fifth medical procedure in the previous 25 months. Even though the 28-year-old was deemed healthy, he didn’t play in Mumbai’s most recent match against the Gujarat Titans, which once again cast doubt on his fitness.
According to The Telegraph, Belgian surgeon Roger van Riet carried out the procedure. At the time, it didn’t appear to be the case, even though it was initially anticipated that the injury would keep him out for at least four weeks.
In Jofra Archer absence, Gujarat defeats Mumbai by 55 runs.
Mumbai’s bowling attack appeared weak without Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer as they let up 207 against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, April 25. While David Miller (46 runs off 22 deliveries), Abhinav Manohar (42 runs off 21 deliveries), and Rahul Tewatia (20* runs off five deliveries) wrecked havoc near the tail end of the innings, GT opener Shubman Gill established the tone of the game with his superb half-century.
At Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai’s bowlers appeared to lack knowledge because none of their strategies were successful. While Riley Meredith and Cameron Green lost a lot of runs and Mumbai had a mountain to climb in their chase, Arjun Tendulkar began well but was not trusted with the ball in the dying overs.
Notably, the five-time champions required a brisk start but regrettably dropped wickets one after another. In the very first over of the innings, GT’s captain Hardik Pandya helped them get their initial breakthrough as Rohit Sharma was forced to return to the pavilion.
Tim David, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav all missed out on the chance to help Mumbai score only 152 runs and lose the match by 55 runs as a result. They are now ranked seventh in the IPL Points Table, behind Gujarat, who climbed up to second place with five victories.
