In the 61st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Nitish Rana led the Kolkata Knight Riders against the four-time winner Chennai Super Kings at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, May 14.
After their high-stakes match against Kolkata, the four-time winners finally told everyone about their big surprise. A lap of honor around the MA Chidambaram Stadium was the special treat. Even though things didn’t go Chennai Super Kings way, MS Dhoni and the rest of the team ran around the field to thank the crowd for their huge support.
Dhoni was seen hitting some balls into the crowd for the fans as he probably played his last IPL game.
He also threw a couple of shirts into the crowd. Even people in charge and players from the other team came up to Dhoni to get his signature. Sunil Gavaskar, who used to bat for India, was also seen getting an autograph from the famous captain.
Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana led KKR to a clear victory over CSK.
In terms of the game, Chennai didn’t do as well as they had hoped. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the four-time winners didn’t have a good start to the game because Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway weren’t as effective. But thanks to Shivam Dube’s strong, unbeaten knock of 48* runs in 34 balls, Chennai was able to put up 144 runs.
When Kolkata’s top players came in to try to reach the goal, Deepak Chahar’s brilliant spell fully blew them away. Chahar broke up the batting attack of the two-time winners by getting rid of Jason Roy, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Venkatesh Iyer.
But it was the great hits by Rinku Singh and the captain, Nitish Rana, that led to a great win for Kolkata. Rinku scored 54 runs in 43 deliveries. Nitish Rana, on the other hand, scored 57 runs without being out in 44 balls. The two of them worked together to help Kolkata win the game by six wickets and keep their dreams of making it to the next round of the tournament alive.
