Rishabh Pant, who is usually the captain of the Delhi franchise, is hurt and won’t be able to play again until IPL 2023. So, when the Delhi Capitals played their first game against the Lucknow Super Giants, they hung his jersey on the roof of the dugout.
The BCCI officials, on the other hand, didn’t like what the Capitals did.
They think it’s a bit much because these kinds of gestures should only be made in the case of death or retirement. It is thought that the idea to hang Pant’s jersey in the DC camp came from head coach Ricky Ponting.
“It seemed a little excessive. This kind of act is only done when someone dies or retires. It was neither in this case. Rishabh is getting better more quickly than anyone thought he would. So, even though it was done for a good reason, an IPL source told The Times Now that BCCI has politely told the franchise to stop doing things like that in the future.
