One of the best cricket players in the Indian domestic league is Prithvi Shaw. Following his international debut in 2018 with a century in a Test match, it was anticipated that the Mumbai hitter would only become better. But so yet, he’s only participated in five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20I. He hasn’t played for India in more over two years.
Shaw’s advancement has been hindered by technical issues, but he has also been embroiled in disputes that likely have had a negative impact on his mental health. One such incident occurred last year when he was accused of physical assault and molestation by social media personality Sapna Gill following an uncomfortable incident at a Mumbai pub.
Similarly, Prithvi Shaw recently talked about the incident, noting that he was at Barrel Club in Mumbai with his buddies, right next to Gill’s table. According to the right-handed batter, he complied with the group’s request for selfies. He continued by saying that a pair began filming a video a little while later without getting his permission. The manager then requested that Gill and the others leave. But as Shaw and his buddies left the club, they noticed the young lady standing there holding a baseball bat.
“I was with seven or eight buddies at the Barrel Club at the Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai. Four or five people seated at the next table approached me and asked to take selfies, so I did. However, they returned since the images they took appeared to be blurry, so I took another selfie. Shaw described the event on News24. “Then, a couple came and put their arms around my shoulder and started making a video without asking me.”
“Then, the club management asked them to leave. After a while, I also left through the hotel’s main entrance. However, Sapna Gill, the girl, had a baseball bat and was waiting outside. The manner they were all waiting for me outside did not make them appear like regular people. He said, “They were on something else.”
Shaw said that baseball bats were used to attack his BMW vehicle. In a video that quickly became viral on social media, he disclosed that he got out of the car to remove the bat from Gill’s hand and prevent her from doing any further harm.
“They used a baseball bat to strike my car as I was reducing speed at a CISF checkpoint. I was afraid that the glass might break as they began to attack the windshield, hitting it three or four times. Then, in order to prevent her from totally damaging my automobile, I had to exit the vehicle with the goal of removing the baseball bat from her hands. I then grabbed the baseball bat from her, and when she uploaded it, it became viral. Shaw went on, “Only that portion was posted.
They were on something, and I didn’t want my name to be brought up in any of this, so I wanted to drop the subject and get out of there. I left in my friend’s car while my BMW was still there, and my pals assured me that it would be returned home,” he continued.
Shaw also said that he was terrified throughout the event and thought the group would go to great lengths to murder him. After that, he decided to go to court even though his reputation had been called into question in the public eye.
“I was terrified for my life and believed that I would be killed. I was terrified for the first time in my life. Then, despite my knowledge that my identity would be included, we filed the complaint. However, I was certain that we had done nothing improper, which is why we had filed the complaint,” Shaw went on to elaborate on his concerns.
The female was not even touched by my friends: Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi Shaw was also charged with bodily assault and molestation. A Mumbai court was later informed by the police, though, that the accusations were unfounded. Shaw made it clear that while his friends attempted to slant the story to their advantage, they had not actually touched Gill or her group.
“As soon as they exited, the girl who had attacked my car began accusing us of abusing her, totally flipping their story. You can see that all of the cameras are there; my friends did not even touch the female,” Shaw said.
It is anticipated that the 24-year-old will recover in time for the next Indian Premier League (IPL). He might be able to make a return to the national squad with a solid showing in the 10-team event.
