At the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou, the India Women cricket team is now playing its opening match of the Asian Games.
In only 15 overs, they had amassed a remarkable total of 173 runs. Indian batsmen dominated a routine Malaysian bowling assault, and they also benefited from some shoddy defense from the opposition.
The innings was launched by Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, who quickly put together a fifty-run combination. Mandhana was unfortunate to be sent out shortly after, but Verma kept up her great form and hit 67 runs off just 39 balls.
Additionally playing well, Jemimah Rodrigues added 47 runs to the team total. Richa Ghosh’s scorching cameo, in which she hit 21 runs off only seven balls, put the innings on a high note. The number of overs was decreased to 15 due to a rain break that occurred in the middle of the inning. The team needed just 15 overs to reach 173.
Mandhana – 27(16).
Shafali – 67(39).
Jemmiah – 47*(29).
Richa Ghosh – 21*(7).4,4,6,4,1,1 – What a finish by Richa Ghosh, she smashed 20 runs in last over as India post the total of 173/2 in 15 overs in Quarterfinal of Asian Games – INCREDIBLE BATTING PERFORMANCE…!!! pic.twitter.com/IYC0Gewdiz

Smriti Mandhana has assumed leadership of the India Women team for this game in place of usual captain Harmanpreet Kaur. It will now be interesting to watch how swiftly the Indian bowlers can end Malaysia’s innings and give India the victory.
However, the Indian men’s cricket team is also getting ready for their upcoming matches at the Asian Games. They will also be participating in the event. The men’s competition, which is set to start on September 27, will include 15 teams vying for the top prize. On October 7, there will be a contest between the bronze and gold medalists.
To the surprise of cricket enthusiasts, cricket has returned to the Asian Games this year after being absent in 2018. Based on their ICC rankings, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have already guaranteed their places in the quarterfinals.
For the remaining four berths in the quarterfinals, the remaining 11 teams will face off. Four groups of these teams have been created, and only the group winners will move on to the next round of the competition.
