The International Cricket Council (ICC) has shot down rumors that Pakistan’s ODI World Cup games will be played in Bangladesh. Earlier on Wednesday, March 29, there were reports that Pakistan’s games would be held in Bangladesh instead of India because of political tensions between the two countries. The 50-over World Cup is said to start on October 5 in India. It is said that it will be held in twelve different places.
A member of the ICC board says that the rumors about Pakistan playing in Bangladesh aren’t true because nothing like that was talked about at the last ICC board meeting in Dubai. He also said that they didn’t know if the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi, had talked to the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Najmul Hasan Papon, about it.
“No one knows if PCB chief Najam Sethi has had any informal talks with his Bangladeshi counterpart Najmul Hasan Papon, but it can be said with a fair amount of certainty that Pakistan will not play in Bangladesh,” a source on the ICC board told PTI.
ICC source: The most important thing for the host country is to give visas on time.
The source also said that the meeting was used to talk about how to get visas. He also said that getting visas to other countries on time is the most important thing for the host country. He also said that Bangladesh hasn’t been thought of as a co-host for any of Pakistan’s games yet.
“The BCCI has said unequivocally that getting visas won’t be a problem. One of the most important things for a host country is that all participating countries get their visas on time. As of now, Bangladesh isn’t even on the ICC’s radar as a possible co-host,” the source said.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already said that their players will not go to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup. After that, PCB made it sound like they might not go to the ODI World Cup if India didn’t come to Pakistan. Notably, the continental championship will be played in September, right before the main event.
