Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t had much success in one-day international cricket despite being one of the most talented players in the game’s shortest format. In 26 ODI games, the 32-year-old has played for his country and has only scored 511 runs. Despite this, the selectors have selected the cricketer for the forthcoming Asia Cup because they believe he will improve and succeed in the format as he has in T20Is thus far.
Notably, Suryakumar wants to return and is aware that he hasn’t performed well in the 50-over format. He knows that the Asia Cup is the ideal venue, and he often communicates with head coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli to enhance his ODI cricketing abilities. He further stated that he is prepared to accept any job the team management may assign him.
“Regardless of the role, I would do my best to perform it as required by the team. I’m hoping to perform well in this format. In T20Is, I’m doing really well. However, they are both white-ball formats. People are curious as to why I am unable to solve this puzzle, Suryakumar told Star Sports.
“I’m working on it. This format, which requires playing a variety of games, is the most difficult for me. Take your time, rotate your strikes, and then attempt some huge shots, much like in T20 Internationals. I have spoken with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and the head coach Rahul Dravid,” he continued.
As of right now, I’m practicing and trying to play in accordance with the circumstances: A. Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar provided a brief report on his practice session, noting that he is making an effort to adjust to the circumstances and do so.
“However, I’m now attempting to play in accordance with the circumstance and preparing accordingly. I’m hoping that I’ll finally figure out the code at this event. Before every at-bat, I get thrilled. Whether or not I miss the first ball has no bearing. Many people have questioned why I run to the crease as soon as I get the chance to bat, but Suryakumar said that he believes it’s crucial to keep the energy up.
