At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday, the Mumbai Indians defeated the Gujarat Giants by seven wickets to become the first side to guarantee their spot in the WPL 2024 playoffs. Gujarat had set a 191-run goal when they batted first, and Mumbai reached that total with one ball remaining to win their fifth game of the year. Reema Malhotra, a Sports18 WPL expert, and JioCinema talked about the game’s significance. Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Mumbai Indians (95* runs), also had an exclusive interview with Sports18 and JioCinema on “Match Center Live.” Take-outs:
About Mumbai’s performance, Harmanpreet Kaur said, “We gave away too many runs in the first 10 overs.”
However, once Sajeevan Sajana freed Beth Mooney, The tide began to turn in our favor. We did a terrific job of stopping them, particularly in the last four or five overs. We anticipated that they would score more than 200 runs in the middle, which would make the run chase difficult because chasing more than 200 always puts more strain on the batting. We knew we could win the game if someone played a lengthy inning because of the way we rallied while they were batting so brilliantly.”
Regarding her batting approach, Kaur says, “It’s all about calculations; there’s no secret.” On a global scale, everyone is able to compute a run-chase. You’ll bat accordingly if the scoreboard indicates that 10 runs are needed in an over. I can’t say that I used a particular slogan to do this. We supported ourselves based on Amelia’s direct contact with us.”
“This isn’t just a win for the Mumbai Indians; it’s a win for women’s cricket,” Reema Malhotra said when discussing the beneficial effects of this performance on women’s cricket. Players are performing at a higher level with each match. Women’s cricket has finally found the platform it has been waiting for. For this, we must commend the TATA WPL.”
