At the Sussex Central Ground on July 9, the second Twenty20 International (T20I) match of the five matches in the series between the England women and the New Zealand women (ENG-W vs NZ-W) is set to take place. Notably, the three ODI series matches between the hosts and New Zealand women marked the first of the Black Caps women’s tour to England, with the hosts winning 3-0. On July 6, in Southampton’s Rose Bowl, the Kiwis lost badly in the opening Twenty20 International match. Nonetheless, the team still has a fantastic opportunity to win the second Twenty20 International and tie the series at one.
Concerning the opening T20, the hosts scored an impressive 197/3 in the allotted 20 overs. But New Zealand lost the game by 59 runs as they continued to lose wickets often and could only muster 138/9.
Following their 3-0 victory in the ODI series and their 1-0 victory in the opening T20I, the Heather Knight team will be eager to maintain their dominant momentum in the game’s shortest format. But, Sophie Devine’s team will be seeking retribution for the hosts’ first T20I defeat.
