Prithvi Shaw rose to popularity as a teenager, making a century in his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai. He also led India to the U-19 World Cup victory in 2018. The right-handed hitter also got a century in his Test debut against the West Indies.

He was slated for greatness, with some experts and fans hailing him as the next Sachin Tendulkar.

However, things have gone crazy for the small cricketer in recent years, as he has not played for India since 2021 and went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 super auction.

Shaw has had a long-standing friendship with Arjun Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar’s son. The Master Blaster has seen Shaw’s career ups and downs firsthand. In a recent interview, the 25-year-old stated that Sachin still believes in him and has urged him to go back on track like before.

“Sachin knows about my adventure. Arjun and I have been buddies since we were 8 to 9 years old. We played together and grew up together. Sir was also present occasionally. I also spoke with him a short while ago. It was only two months ago. He was practicing at the MIG. And I was there, too. I also spoke with him then. When things go wrong and you drift away, you need a mentor who can reignite your passion,” Shaw told News24.

“He still believes in me.” He told Prithvi, “I still believe in you, and I will continue to do so.” Because he has watched me grow up. Even today, he tells me, ‘Sahi track pe aa ja, jaise pehle tha’. Everything is possible over the next 13-14 years. “So he believes in me, which means a lot,” he said.

Shaw recently wrote to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) as he wants to explore playing opportunities elsewhere. According to various reports, Shaw could be joining Maharashtra ahead of the upcoming domestic season.
