Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary Indian batsman, recently attended the premiere of his friend and Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s new film, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, which hits theatres on June 20, is a sequel to the 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. It has already garnered recognition for its compelling storyline and strong performances.

Aamir invited Tendulkar to an exclusive, star-studded VIP screening of the film. In a video published by Aamir Khan Productions, the cricket icon praised the film and stated that it will inspire the next generation greatly.

“The film is very good.” Ye movie aisi hai ki aap team sitaare ke saath haste ho rote ho movie main hi (this is a film that will make you laugh and cry throughout), and I have always believed that sports have the potential to teach us everything. Itne saare messages milte hai, (you get so many messages), and it has the capacity to bring everyone together, as seen in the movie. “Main saare actors ko big thumbs up deta hu, bahot acha job kiya hai,” Tendulkar can be heard saying.

Directed by R. S. Prasanna and produced under the Aamir Khan Productions banner, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, alongside 10 debutant neurodivergent actors, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

India-England series named after Sachin Tendulkar, James Anderson

Meanwhile, Tendulkar was recently seen unveiling the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy alongside James Anderson in Leeds ahead of the England vs India Test series. The former batter who became the first and still the only player with 200 Test caps ended his red-ball career in 2013 with the most runs in the format, a record he still holds with 15,921 runs, which includes a staggering tally of 51 centuries.

“For me, Test cricket embodies life – you give your best, and if things go wrong, it gives you another day to regroup, think, unlearn, and bounce back. It is the highest form of the game that teaches you endurance, discipline and adaptability, against all odds. I owe my foundation to Test cricket, as it has seen me grow from disappointments to triumphs, from aspirations to fulfilment,” Tendulkar said.
