Travis Head and Pat Cummins are rumoured to return to India to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League season. Due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the IPL was temporarily suspended, and the Australian pair was one of numerous players who left India.
The inclusion of both players in Australia’s 15-man roster for their forthcoming World Test Championship final matchup with South Africa has sparked a lot of conjecture on whether or not the two will participate in the IPL again.
It is known that SRH has been informed by Cummins and Travis Head of their decision to fly back.
On Tuesday, May 13, Cummins’ manager Neil Maxwell told News Corp, “Pat has a responsibility as captain of the franchise and is looking at returning,” according to the report.
Nevertheless, other than the Australians, no official information regarding SRH’s foreign players has surfaced. The availability of Eshan Malinga, Wiaan Mulder, Kamindu Mendis, and Heinrich Klaasen has not yet been formally verified. The Proteas’ lineup for their matchup with the Aussies includes Mulder.
In terms of SRH’s IPL 2025, they have only won three of their 11 games thus far. Their final three matches are away games: KKR in Delhi on May 25, RCB in Bengaluru on May 23, and LSG in Lucknow on May 19. They have already been eliminated from the playoff chase.
The 13 league-phase matches will start on May 17 and take place in Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, among other locations. The playoff locations are still up in the air. On May 29, May 30, June 1st, and June 3rd, respectively, the Qualifier 1 Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and Final will take place.
