During Match 64 of the current Indian Premier League between the Gujarat Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Nicholas Pooran elegantly responded to Mohammed Siraj’s sledging. Shortly after Siraj swore at the southpaw, Pooran answered with a six and a four to end the over in spectacular fashion.

It all began with the 16th over’s fourth delivery. The ball was deemed a wide for height and had to be bowled again. Siraj, who was obviously unhappy with the choice, spoke quietly with Pooran before turning to go. Another bouncer attempt was made for the subsequent delivery, but it was unsuccessful. A couple more words came next. A total of 10 runs were scored off the fifth and sixth balls.

Nicholas Pooran ended up unbeaten on 56 (27). His blazing innings comprised four fours and five sixes.

However, the star of LSG’s innings was Mitchell Marsh, as the Australian batting all-rounder hammered his way through to a stunning maiden IPL ton. He was dismissed after racking up 117 off just 64 deliveries.

Earlier in the evening, GT won the toss and chose to field first. Marsh and Aiden Markram (36 off 24) scored 91 before the latter was removed on the penultimate delivery of the tenth over.

The hosts’ lone wicket-takers were Arshad Khan (1/36 in three overs) and R Sai Kishore (1/34 in three overs). Siraj (0/37 in four overs) was the most economical bowler for the Shubman Gill-led team.
