Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant is having a dismal season in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Pant’s lowest IPL performance to date, with only 151 runs at a strike rate of 107.09 in 13 games. Despite the run drought, LSG head coach Justin Langer has supported the wicketkeeper-batsman, praising his character and leadership within the club.

The former Australian Test opener recalled the Delhi cricketer’s horrible automobile accident in December 2023 and reminded everyone how he made an incredible comeback to the field, demonstrating absolute guts and commitment.

“You always measure a person’s character based on how they handle difficult situations. And Rishabh’s performance remained consistent throughout. I genuinely admire that. We all know what he’s been through in the last few years, but he keeps stepping up, performing, wanting to be out in the middle and fighting hard for the boys,” Langer said during the live broadcast after the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated the Gujarat Titans (GT) by 33 runs on Thursday, May 23.

“So, from that perspective, he did an excellent job. You wouldn’t know, and that’s a sign of a truly powerful person,” he said.

It would be wonderful to finish strong: Justin Langer

While the Lucknow Super Giants did not make the playoffs, Justin Langer stated that they have a very strong core. Furthermore, he stated that LSG is a close-knit team. Finally, Langer stated that the immediate goal was to end the IPL 2025 season on a positive note.

“You know, there’s always something to play for. There are players who haven’t had fantastic seasons and want to display their abilities, and as a team, we recognise that we haven’t been at our best in the last few games. There is no explanation for this, but we want to demonstrate that we have a very strong core. We have a close-knit crew. There is no dispute about that. “It would be nice to finish strong,” Langer added.

Notably, LSG will conclude their season on Tuesday, May 27, when they face Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
