Punjab Kings (PBKS) got off to a flying start in their run chase against Mumbai Indians (MI), with Josh Inglis hitting 20 runs in the fifth over against star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The high-stakes Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will determine who will meet Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2025 Final on June 3.
As PBKS chased a 204-run target, Inglis and Priyansh Arya were at the crease when MI’s Bumrah was brought for the fifth over of the powerplay.
Josh Inglis showed no fear and instantly challenged the experienced pacer.
On the opening ball of the over, Inglis flicked a delivery wide of midwicket and exploited the angle to propel the ball to the boundary. After a few deliveries, Bumrah threw a slower off-cutter outside off, but Inglis got on the front foot and hit it over long-on for a six.
On the sixth ball of the over, he pierced the infield once more, beating the square leg fielder for another four. He finished the over with style, cutting a short-length ball pitched outside off. The top-edge soared over Reece Topley at third base, the tallest fielder on the field, for another maximum and a 20-run over.
Pressure? What pressure? 😏
