Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 42 runs in Match 65 of the IPL 2025 in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Despite the win, SRH stayed ninth with 11 points, while RCB slid from second to third with 17 points.

Batting first, SRH scored a magnificent 231 for 6, with Ishan Kishan leading the way with a superb unbeaten 94 off only 48 balls, including seven fours and five sixes. Abhishek Sharma (34 off 17), Heinrich Klaasen (24 off 13), and Aniket Verma (26 off 9) all made significant contributions to the team’s impressive total. RCB’s Romario Shepherd took two wickets for 14 runs in his two-over performance.

Chasing 232, RCB opened explosively, with openers Phil Salt (62 off 32) and Virat Kohli (43 off 25) blasting the SRH bowlers all over the pitch during the powerplay. However, after the openers were dismissed, the rest of the batting lineup crumbled against the tight bowling of the SRH players.

SRH mounted a powerful comeback, led by Eshan Malinga, who removed the dangerous Romario Shepherd and Tim David shortly after Rajat Patidar was run out, as RCB fell from 173 for 3 to 189 all out in 19.5 overs. Skipper Pat Cummins took three wickets for 28 runs in his four overs, including the important dismissal of Salt.

SRH will play their last league encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 25, while RCB will face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27.
