Sandeep Sharma will be miss by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League. During RR’s match against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday, April 28, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the right-arm pacer broke his finger.
When Sandeep was bowling to the GT captain in the first innings, he attempted to block a shot from Shubman Gill. To check on the 31-year-old, the team’s physio hurried inside the centre. Sandeep completed his four-over period with eight more deliveries, demonstrating a remarkable display of tenacity and resolve.
The seasoned speedster was absent from Thursday’s match between Rajasthan and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Jaipur. After the Chennai Super Kings, the first champions were the second side to be eliminated from the playoff race after losing the match by an overwhelming 100 runs.
Sandeep Sharma was substituted in the match against Mumbai by Akash Madhwal, who gave up 39 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket.
Sandeep grabbed nine wickets in ten games this season at a strike rate of 24.33 and an average of 40.11. At an economy rate of 9.89, he gave up runs.
MI eliminates Rajasthan’s chances of making the playoffs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record-breaking century helped Rajasthan defeat the Gujarat Titans, boosting their spirits. Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj, and Ishant Sharma were among the famous international bowlers that the 14-year-old brought to the cleaners. However, MI outclassed the squad in their subsequent match, thus they were unable to capitalise on that performance.
Out of the 11 games they have played so far, Rajasthan has only achieved three victories and eight losses. They can only receive a maximum of 12 points at the end, which is insufficient to qualify.
The next games for RR are against the Chennai Super Kings on May 12, the Punjab Kings on May 16, and the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 4. Riyan Parag is guiding RR, while Sanju Samson, the team’s main captain, is still out due to a side strain injury.
