Gujarat Titans (GT) played some terrific cricket in their first 12 games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, and they appeared to be on their way to finishing in the top two. However, they lost their last two matches in the tournament’s round-robin round and will be praying that Lucknow Super Giants defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Tuesday, May 27, to enable them advance to Qualifier 1. If Rajat Patidar & Co. win this match, the 2022 winners will have to play the Eliminator, which will deny them the luxury of losing a game in the playoffs.

Despite Rashid Khan’s poor campaign, Gujarat Titans bowlers struggled in the remaining three games, allowing 664 runs.

While Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan saved the day against the Delhi Capitals, chasing down a 200-run mark in 19 overs without losing a wicket, they were unable to motivate their team to victory in the last two games.

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody praised R Sai Kishore, the only player to take at least one wicket in each of Gujarat’s last three games, for his consistency. While Prasidh Krishna is second in the Purple Cap race with 23 wickets, Mohammed Siraj has been inconsistent with his fifteen. Moody believes the Titans’ bowlers are losing form at the crucial time in the tournament, and a lack of bowling partnerships is harming the Shubman Gill-led team.

“It’s concerning because several of their bowlers are losing form at the wrong time. Coming into the finals, one aspect of your game you want to be completely secure in is your bowling attack, with everyone wanting to take responsibility for themselves rather than looking over their shoulders. And I look at their attack, and there’s only one bowler who’s bowling brilliantly, and the rest are struggling to find form,” Moody remarked on Time Out.

“And that’s probably being a little bit harsh on Sai Kishore because I think he’s been quite consistent, but it’s nearly like his bowling has been swept away along with many other bowlers purely because they haven’t been able to build the most important thing, and that’s those partnerships with the ball,” he told reporters.

GT’s league campaign came to an end on Sunday, May 25, when they fell to Chennai Super Kings by 83 runs after conceding 230/5 in the first innings.
