The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 has come to an exciting finish, with England leading the series 2-1 as both teams prepare for the final Test at The Oval. Former England pacer Stuart Broad has expressed his thoughts on how the hosts could approach their bowling strategy in the decider.

Stuart Broad warned against putting too much trust on Jofra Archer, arguing that after a four-year hiatus, England should be careful not to overwhelm him and risk another extended break from the game. Instead, he emphasised the possibility of Gus Atkinson appearing in the last match, stating that while Atkinson has not had a heavy workload, exposing him to high-level competition may be beneficial.

Stuart Broad emphasised the need of testing the pacer’s ability under difficult conditions in order to better comprehend his potential.

“We can’t lose Archer for four years, then bring him back, bowl him out, and not see him again for four years. I believe Gus Atkinson needs to play. I understand he has not had any employment, but we need to see him. “He hasn’t really been tested against top-level opposition in Test cricket yet,” Broad, Broad underlined the necessity of rigorous workload management in ensuring Archer’s long-term availability, especially in demanding forms such as Test cricket. Archer made a much-anticipated return to Test cricket during the present series against India, after a lengthy injury absence.

After fighting a series of disappointing elbow and back problems, Archer’s comeback was a watershed moment for both the player and England. He had great performances at Lord’s and Old Trafford.

Archer has nine wickets in 88.3 overs this series, with an average of 28.67. The figure indicates his outstanding management despite the lengthy layoff. Archer’s raw pace has put pressure on the opponents, allowing him to make significant breakthroughs at critical periods.
