Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs, two of the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) top players, would be relieved to be back in the squad for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League. The players will participate in the event, the franchise confirmed. Stubbs will, however, only be available until the league stage before returning home to get ready for the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) finals.

Tristan Stubbs is included in South Africa’s WTC Test team, which will play Australia on June 11.

The DC will release their player if they make it to the playoffs since they recognise how important the game is. With six victories in 11 games, the Delhi-based team is still unsure of their qualification. They had four consecutive victories to start their IPL 2025 campaign, but the tournament went against them.

The club led by Axar Patel is currently having trouble making it to the playoffs after losing a few games. Additionally, they have three games left, which they must win at all costs in order to advance to the knockout stages. The majority of the clubs in a similar position would hope for a change in luck to advance to the playoffs once the tournament resumes.

“JSW and GMR co-owned franchise Delhi Capitals on Saturday confirmed that Vice-captain Faf du Plessis and teammate Tristan Stubbs have rejoined the team ahead of the resumption of IPL 2025,” according to a press release from DC.

The team has benefited from Faf and Stubbs, who have helped them win games. Faf has amassed 128 runs in six games, including two fifties, while Stubbs has amassed 259 runs at an average of 51 in 11 games. Stubbs has been outstanding for the team, so if DC makes it to the postseason, they will need a capable middle-order hitter to take his spot.
