If Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) advance, AB de Villiers pledged to watch the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final. The renowned South African cricket player, who is still a devoted supporter, played for the Bengaluru-based team for 11 seasons.
Both RCB supporters and the legendary Virat Kohli, who has been a key member of the team from its founding, have a particular place in de Villiers’ heart. During their time at RCB, the two players developed some special alliances as their friendship grew stronger.
Nothing, according to the former Proteas skipper, will make him happier than lifting the prized IPL trophy on June 3 with Kohli.
“Believe me, I will be in the stadium with the boys if RCB advances to the final. There is nothing that will make me happier than lifting that title alongside Virat Kohli.
In an Instagram Live session, AB de Villiers stated, “I’ve tried that for many, many years.”

RCB have been having a phenomenal season in IPL 2025 under first-time captain Rajat Patidar. They are placed at No. 2 on the points table, having won eight games and lost three out of the 11 they have played so far. RCB are set to face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 17.
A win in this clash will take them through to the playoffs with two league games left. However, the start of the match is likely to be delayed as it has been raining heavily in Bengaluru in the lead-up to the encounter. KKR will be desperate for this match to take place as they have reached a do-or-die stage as far as progress to the playoffs is concerned.
