On Day 4 of the first Test against England at Headingley, Indian batsmen were quite prolific. Rishabh Pant, India’s top wicketkeeper-batsman, was one of the game’s greatest performers, scoring centuries in both innings.

While fans and experts praised the 27-year-old southpaw’s knock, commentators Michael Vaughan and Sunil Gavaskar talked about the Gabba Hero’s unusual celebration. The duo was confused as to why he did not recreate the somersault celebration seen in the first innings.

“Could you please clarify what that celebration is? Do you understand what that is? I was waiting for that flip as well. I was disappointed in the commentary when he didn’t perform a double flip.

Knowing Rishabh Pant, he’ll constantly try to enhance his celebrations, but I’m guessing yours is taking this bit,” Vaughan

“No, I believe that is basically thanking the Gods above. He had something on his eye. “He kind of put us on the signal,” Gavaskar said.

Big chase to take place on the final day

The centuries from KL Rahul and Pant made sure India set a competitive target of 371 runs for the home team. While Pant scored 118 runs off 140 deliveries, Rahul emerged as the top scorer for India in the innings, scoring 137 off 247 deliveries. This was his ninth 100+ score in Test cricket.

England ended the day on a score of 21-0 with openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley at the crease. They still need to score another 350 runs to win the game, while the Indian bowlers will be looking to get all the 10 wickets and defeat the Ben Stokes-led side in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
