In Test cricket, former India captain Virat Kohli has endured a dry spell over the previous three years.
The star batter’s bad form persisted in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia. Virat Kohli scored only 12 runs before being bowled by Todd Murphy, a debutant. Now that the second Test is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 17, all eyes are on the performance of the Indian batsman legend.
Dinesh Karthik, an experienced Indian wicketkeeper, has deciphered Kohli’s failings against spin, despite the batter’s declining form. Karthik stated that first, the majority of the Indian Test squad will focus on spin bowling, and then they will shift their attention to medium-pace bowlers. He said that he believes the same thing occurred to Kohli.

Initially, the players on a Test cricket squad are excellent spin bowlers, but this declines as they expend more energy and concentrate more on playing medium-pacers. And I’m fairly certain that holds true for Virat Kohli,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.
“You look back on the past I have no doubt that he is a better fast bowling player than when he first began. Perhaps his performance against spin has declined, but that is acceptable and rather understandable. You don’t play as many spinners when you travel abroad, and you don’t play as many good spinners. If you play in the subcontinent, you will likely spend more time on the home circuit.
“You can argue that he has not played well against spin in the recent past, but he is a darn good player against spin bowling, particularly fingers spin bowling. “According to the statistics, he has a tendency to spin, so he must improve on this,” he concluded.
Throughout the majority of 2022, Kohli endured the worst period of his career. However, the 34-year-old cricketer regained his form in the 2022 Asia Cup, where he smashed a century against Afghanistan (122* of 61). In the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, he went on to score three ODI hundreds and a match-winning 82* against archrivals Pakistan at the legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground.
