Pakistani preparations for their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Australia against been hampered by the diagnosis of viral chest infections in several key players while they were in Bengaluru.
According to reports, four to five players have been affected by severe chest infection leading to high fever and illness. Players with high fevers include Shaheen Afridi, Abdullah Shafique, Zaman Khan, and Usama Mir.
According to reports, Afridi was suffering from a viral bacterial infection. The fast bowler sought medical assistance right away and was given antibiotic drips to aid in his recuperation. Shafique, on the other hand, also passed away from a significant high fever and is currently under medical care.

As per a report in Samaa Tv, Zaman Khan also joined the list of the affected players along with Usama Mir who has been grappling with the condition for five days and has been put in quarantine as a precautionary measure. However, all of Mir’s medical tests yielded negative results. The media manager for Pakistan also disclosed that the cricketers are making progress and returning to full health.
The Babar Azam-led team, meanwhile, would be keen for a victory in the forthcoming match after being defeated by India in their last match. Pakistani, who were given the opportunity to bat first, were doing well in the crucial match as they were 155/2 after 29.3 overs.
Pakistan lost eight wickets for 26 runs against India
However, they suffered a dramatic collapse which saw them losing the last eight wickets for 26 runs. They were consequently bowled out for 191, and India later in the second innings completed the chase in 30.3 overs. With their victory, India extended their World Cup winning streak against Pakistan to eight matches.
