Chris Gayle, a former batsman for the West Indies and RCB, talked about how the winning streak of the Mumbai Indians (MI) could be a big problem for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) if MI makes it to the IPL 2023 finals.
Before the important Second Qualifier, Gayle said that the reigning champions, Gujarat Titans (GT), would have an edge over Mumbai because they would be playing at home. Gayle did say, though, that the five-time winners are currently on a winning streak, and that this could help them beat CSK in the final match.
“MI is going to Ahmedabad, which is where GT grew up, so that will be a big plus for them. We have to think about that. But now Mumbai has the upper hand.
Will Mumbai make it to the final? “If they do that, CSK doesn’t want to see a team like Mumbai,” Gayle said on Jio Cinema.
Notably, Rohit Sharma is leading Mumbai, which has won their last two games by big margins. Impressively, they beat Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs in the Eliminator at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. This helped them make sure they would be in Qualifier 2.
Mumbai wants to set a record by winning a sixth title
When they play Hardik Pandya and his teammates on May 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the most accomplished team in the top league will have a hard time. When it comes to their head-to-head results, Mumbai has a slight edge over Gujarat Titans because they have won two of their three IPL games against them.
The five-time champions will try to come out strong against GT and put their best foot forward so that they can play CSK in the final spot in the top match. Also, Rohit Sharma and the rest of his team will be trying to ruin the party for the yellow team and add a record-breaking sixth title to their already impressive cabinet.
