Every day that goes by, the mystery around Jasprit Bumrah recovery and his projected return to the Indian cricket team grows. Last week, it was said that Bumrah’s recovery from surgery to fix a stress fracture was going as planned at the National Cricket Academy.
There was hope that he would come back as soon as the Ireland T20Is in August. But just two days later, it was reported that Bumrah was bowling seven overs a day at the NCA and taking part in practise games, which showed that his return was still a ways off.
Fans were still processing this sad news when they heard that Bumrah would be playing in the upcoming Asia Cup, which was a very exciting development. Ravichandran Ashwin gave more good news on Thursday when he talked about Bumrah’s return.
Ashwin said that Bumrah return was the best news about the newly announced 2023 World Cup schedule.
He talked about the much-anticipated game between India and Pakistan that was going to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Indian cricket fans were happy when Ashwin told them that Bumrah might be available.
“The fights between India and Pakistan at past ICC events were amazing. I think the next match between these two teams will be another exciting one. Both teams have good seam attacks, which means the game will be close. We hope that Bumrah and maybe even Prasidh will be ready for the game. Even though I don’t know how the teams will be put together, I think it will be a fun match,” Ashwin said on his YouTube account.
Bumrah hadn’t played in any of the three T20Is between India and Pakistan in the past year. Two of those were at the Asia Cup and one was at the T20 World Cup. But if he stays healthy for the Asia Cup, he is expected to play in all three of this year’s games against Pakistan.
Even though there are still three and a half months until the World Cup, the match between the two biggest cricket teams has already sold out. Hotels in Ahmedabad are already full, and when tickets go on sale, they are likely to go quickly. Ashwin is excited for the match, just like every other fan.
During the 2011 World Cup, we had a great time in Ahmedabad: Ashwin
“I want to talk about the match between India and Pakistan at Ahmedabad on October 15. The Narendra Modi Stadium can hold up to 130,000 people, so it’s a sure thing that the event will sell out. During the 2011 World Cup, we had a great time in Ahmedabad. Back then, Australia was our opponent in the quarterfinal, and we won. Then, in the finals, we played Pakistan, and we went on to win the World Cup,” Ashwin said.
The India-Pakistan match in Ahmedabad is already getting people excited. Both players and fans are looking forward to an exciting game at the famous Narendra Modi Stadium.
