On Wednesday, August 21, Pakistan and Bangladesh began their two-match Test series. Day 1 of the first Test was postponed and took place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium between the two teams. Pakistan lost the toss and elected to bat first to start the match. Pakistan’s innings took an unexpected turn when they elected to bat first.
Abdullah Shafique, the opener, was sent out after just two runs in 14 deliveries. Shan Masood, the captain, was also sent back to the pavilion after scoring just six runs.
But when the team’s star batsman Babar Azam’s innings was cut short, things only got worse. In the first session of the opening day, Babar left for a silver duck, making things worse for the hosts.
Babar tried to direct a ball that Shoriful Islam delivered outside the leg stump in the eighth over of the first innings. Still, the little brush was plenty. Litton Das, the wicketkeeper for Bangladesh, completed an amazing diving catch to secure a one-handed stunner.
