A new documentary about the cricket career of Hayley Matthews, the top-ranked T20 all-rounder, will be released by the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL).
From Matthews’ early years in Barbados to her triumph in the T20 World Cup and WCPL championship, the “Life Stories” film chronicles her journey. Director Paul Pritchett-Brown and Director of Photography Arjun Choudary masterfully tell the narrative of the cricket player, who is a regular in both the international and global franchise games, as she rises from being a remarkable athlete in various disciplines to the pinnacle of the sport.
The movie will air on Willow in the United States, in the Caribbean, TNT Sport in the United Kingdom, TV6 in Trinidad, in India, and in Australia. Additionally, the movie will be accessible to view on the YouTube channel of the Caribbean Premier League.
“Working with Hayley Matthews and her family to produce this film was a real pleasure,” stated Paul Pritchett-Brown, the director of the movie.
Their dedication to helping us convey this narrative is demonstrated by the finished product. Being able to create a video on Hayley’s journey was an honour, as she is among the most remarkable athletes the Caribbean has ever produced.
“It’s crucial that we take the time to tell the stories of the amazing cricket players who make our tournaments come to life, and this film is a beautiful example of what can be done when given this level of access,” stated Pete Russell, CEO of the CPL and executive producer of the movie. I am grateful to Hayley and her family for their dedication to the project, and I am excited for the cricket community to see this masterfully crafted movie.
