In the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), the cricket community is eager to see Rishabh Pant make his much-anticipated return to competitive cricket.
December 2022 saw the 26-year-old get into a horrifying accident. It took him a long time to heal from the numerous injuries he sustained. However, the southpaw has been cleared to play as a wicketkeeper-batter in the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) following rigorous rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Fans of cricket are eager to watch the flashy player perform live once more. AB de Villiers, one of the best cricket players to have played in the Indian Premier League, expressed his delight over seeing Pant return to the game.
“Thousands in India and throughout the world will see the son of Delhi once more, along with me…A video posted on De Villiers’ YouTube account noted, “It’s great to have him back.”
When Rishabh Pant plays, I adore it so much. AB de Villiers
Pant currently sports the same jersey number, 17, that the South African icon once wore. One of the reasons for his unique bond with the Roorkee-born, according to De Villiers, is this. In an innings of 128 runs from 63 balls in 2018, Pant struck his only IPL century against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the 2024 Indian Premier League, De Villiers wants to see the young player score several hundred.
“He’s wearing number 17, and I used to wear number 17. Watching this guy perform is so much fun, and there’s a hint of chemistry. This might be the year for number two, three, or even four after he produced an IPL century, according to De Villiers.

With Pant out of the picture last season, David Warner captained the Delhi Capitals. In a tournament consisting of ten teams, the franchise secured the ninth position by winning five games and losing nine. Delhi supporters might be optimistic about their prospects in the lucrative league since Pant will be leading the team again this year. The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur will host the Delhi Capitals’ opening match of the 2024 Indian Premier League on Saturday, March 23. The match will feature the Punjab Kings.
