Australia was the favorite to retain the Ashes after winning the lone Test against England in the summer. However, the Alyssa Healy-led team lost the ODI and T20I series in consecutive games, which made matters slightly more difficult for them. However, the ODI and T20I series ended 8-8, and as a result, the Australians were able to hold the title.
Alyssa Healy discussed how they could have performed better after the series against England because they had gained so much knowledge. She thinks it will also enable them to improve in the upcoming competitions.
It has provided us with a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon our performance and identify a few small areas for improvement. I believe this will only help our team and each of us become even better moving forward. That we can bring home the trophy and learn some lessons, in my opinion, is a terrific result,” Healy was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
I believe now is a moment for our group to almost re-evolve: Alyssa Healy
Notably, a six-game white-ball series between Australia and the West Indies will begin at North Sydney Oval on October 1. The team will then host South Africa for a multi-format series after that. Healy talked about how they took a break from the game and how they think that will help them evolve again. She thinks it’s time to reevaluate some objectives and wants the participants to set higher standards.
It’s thrilling, and I believe it’s a new stage in our group’s evolution. We did a wonderful job of that (after the 2017 World Cup), but I think this is a terrific chance to set some new objectives and figure out how we can keep raising the bar for ourselves and raising the bar overall,” added the 33-year-old.
