After excelling in the 17th IPL (Indian Premier League), Mayank Yadav of the Lucknow Super Giants made his debut on the largest platform. He has taken six wickets and won back-to-back Player of the Match accolades in the two games he has played in.
Even the finest batsmen have been left without a response at times by Yadav’s sheer pace. Talks of his possible selection for the Indian team for the 2024 T20 World Cup, which the West Indies and the USA will co-host, have even arisen as a result of his performances.
And in the meantime, Mayank’s parents are certain that their son will soon make his Indian debut.
“Yes, I have no doubts about it. I’m hoping he has a successful debut for India. His dad is absolutely certain, though, more so than I am. He ought to be playing for India, according to certain people right now. But for the past two years, Mayank’s mother told Aaj Tak, “His father has been saying that he would have gone for the upcoming T20 World Cup if he hadn’t been injured.”

In addition, his father claimed to have always supported Mayank’s decision to become a cricket player and to have known that he would become one.

“I am positive that he will make his debut. I knew he was going to be a cricket player when he was twelve. I was falling short of that objective. I could tell he was superior to everyone when he received his trial in the 14-year-old age group. We followed that and he fulfilled his share of the work. Mayank’s father remarked, “He never disregarded my instructions, and when he turned 16, he had more power and matured.”
