Tuesday was the continuation of Abishek Porel’s breakout season with the Delhi Capitals (DC), as the teenage batsman blasted 65 off only 36 balls to help set up a mammoth 222-run goal against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Assistant coach Pravin Amre of DC was all praise for the up-and-coming talent after the inning.

He destroyed the spin combo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin on Tuesday, dismantling the Royals’ renowned pace attack and hitting Trent Boult for consecutive sixes. During his 36-ball stint, he hit three sixes and seven boundaries.
The former cricket player said, “Warner is still not a hundred percent fit, which is why we sent Porel up the order,” in reference to his exclusion.
Sanju Samson’s outstanding 86 almost put the home team out of the game, but Porel’s 65 laid the groundwork for DC’s massive total of 221/8. With two games remaining, DC’s win keeps them firmly in the running for the playoffs in fifth place. The Rishabh Pant-captained team will play Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 12 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
